Elephant Watch Camp

Nestled on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro river, in the midst of an enchanting acacia forest, Elephant Watch Camp is a feast for the senses.

Our six exquisitely furnished tents, each with its own expansive private verandah, have kingsize beds with crisp organic cotton sheets, electric fans, generous bathrooms with a profusion of organic lotions and potions, and beautifully painted bucket-showers for the rare luxury of bathing beneath the stars.

Our delicious attention to detail ensures that even the loo has its own special view to enjoy watching the wild-world pass by in complete privacy and  comfort.

Waking at dawn as the birds start to sing, a pot of a steaming hot coffee or spiced Swahili tea is brought to your room to enjoy in the cool morning air.

All around, a host of small wild creatures yawn and stretch in the undergrowth or warm their bodies in the first rays of the sun. As much a part of Elephant Watch as the human occupants, we are always gentle and respectful in their presence.

Breakfast is served on the banks of the river under the soaring Acacia elatior  trees by Camp or as scrumptious picnics while out on safari with elephants.

Our home made granola, yogurt and freshly baked treats are served alongside colourful arrays of fruit, fresh Kenyan coffee or tea, followed by pancakes, porridge or a tasty cooked breakfast with your favourite style of eggs.

In the evening we eat by the fire, under the stars in the dry river bed, or round the tree-root table beneath colourful canopies in the Mess tent.

The food is delicious - sourced locally from the farms in the foothills of Mt Kenya and prepared fresh each day in our immaculate kitchen.

We delight in serving a unique fusion of Afro-Italo dishes using only the freshest, sun-kissed ingredients. With every item impeccably cleaned in the kitchen, we enjoy the very best of Kenya's vegetables and fruit in our mostly plant-based menu, both raw and cooked, catering for every palate and sensitivity.

Meat is a special delicacy added on top and we take great pains to ensure that each bite is organic, free-range or pasture-raised with high ethical standards.

After a full day out and about, exploring the unfolding frontier or watching elephants, nothing beats coming home to the comforts of Camp.

As the sun sets, you can enjoy a mellow sundowner by the river, check emails and upload photographs for friends and family at home, or dash off for a hot bucket-shower to rid yourself of the dust of the day.

Then it's time to dress up for cocktails by the fire, before enjoying a sumptuous meal and listening to riveting stories of the wild.

Precious moments shared at leisure under the vast constellations of a stunning Samburu night sky, with the glow and warmth of a fire close by.

We hope that you'll come to love and treasure it as much as we do.
